American author Robert Kanigel’s famous biography The Man Who Knew Infinity: A Life of the Genius Ramanujan will be released in Malayalam as Ananthatthe Arinja Aal. In an event on August 21, 2013, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will make the biography public.
Ananthatthe Arinja Aal is translated into Malayalam by professors P. Ramachandra Menon, T.M. Sankaran and J.W. Crystal Florey in collaboration with Srinivasa Ramanujan Institute of Basic Sciences (SRIBS), the State Institute of Languages and the Ramanujan Mathematical Society. Malayalam is the second Indian language in which the English version is being translated. Earlier, it was translated in Tamil.
The original English version The Man Who Knew Infinity: A Life of the Genius Ramanujan was released in 1991 and accounts the exceptional life and stupendous work of the legendary mathematician India ever had. From a common man born in a small town of Tamil Nadu to his journey to the Cambridge University, the book also emphasizes on Ramanujan’s relation with G.H. Hardy and his inventions in the field of mathematics.
